Anjali Mehta

Co-founder, Clinical Director & CBT Therapist

Qualifications and accreditations:
-BSc Psychology (Hons)
-Postgraduate Diploma in CBT (Distinction)
-Accreditation with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)
-Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA)

I am a qualified and accredited CBT Therapist, and lecturer and supervisor on CBT courses at a local university, with a decade of experience in therapy and research.

I specialise in working with adolescents and adults with low mood and low self-esteem. However, I also work with children, adolescents and adults with anxiety and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

I like to take a collaborative approach when working with you. I believe that I may know a thing or two about therapy, but you are the expert of your own experience. For me, the best thing about therapy is the lightbulb moment when you realise what is keeping the problem going. Then, you know how to change things. CBT is the main therapy I use, but I also utilise mindfulness, self-compassion and values from other third-wave CBT therapies.

In my free time, you might find me eating out at restaurants, shopping and reading thriller novels. I also love spending time with my friends and family, particularly my little nephews.

Mujtabha Nawaz

CBT Psychotherapist

Qualifications and accreditations:
-BSc Psychology
-Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
-Accreditation with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

I am a qualified CBT Therapist with clinical experience in working with a variety of different psychological presentations across different age ranges. This includes depression and the various different anxiety disorder, such as OCD, GAD, Social Phobia, Specific Phobia’s, and Panic. I also have special interest in PTSD and hope to specialise in trauma-focussed therapy in the future.

I am currently working for the NHS as part of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT). This involves using evidence-based practice in working with adults. However, my clinical experience has also included working with adolescents with eating disorders.

As a therapist, I am a firm believer in ensuring that there is a positive experience of therapy. I strive to create an atmosphere within therapy that is warm, compassionate, and caring. I also do my best to get you as involved in the therapy as possible. This is so progress can be maintained long after therapy has finished.

Outside of therapy room, I enjoy going to the gym, travelling, and buying an endless supply of books that I will get to “at some point”. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Eleanor Holmes

Clinical Assistant

Qualifications
-Bsc in Psychology with a Professional Placement

I am a recent Psychology graduate from the University of Reading. Currently. My role here at Brighter Life Therapy is providing support to the therapists. Alongside this, I have also been a Personal Carer for the past year supporting my community during the pandemic.

I decided to do a Psychology degree because I find human behaviour fascinating. Behavioural, neurological and cognitive changes of those with mental health issues is particularly interesting to me.

I have previously worked with the Clinical Director, Anjali Mehta, during my year-long university placement. During this time, I gained experience working with young people between 7-18 years old struggling with various mental health issues.

At Brighter Life, I assist with market research, content design and social media use. I feel this is a brilliant opportunity. I am able to contribute indirectly to the mental health support and treatment of those who need it. This is something I hope I can do throughout my career!

In my spare time, I love running, painting (poorly!) and the odd bit of gaming here and there.
