And for our final technique…utilising a positive-traits data log.
When feeling self-critical, it can be hard to see our positive traits. It’s like we have tunnel vision, and can only see the bad, when really we need to be looking at the bigger picture.
If you’re struggling, ask yourself what strengths you like in others and if you might demonstrate some of these yourself. Maybe think about how you’d describe your best friend, or how they’d describe you.
Take a moment to think about some of the compliments you have recently received (even if you didn’t believe the person). Also have a think of any things that you have done well recently. Small positives to start will do, and then you can build from there!
Take some time to jot some ideas down – you may find that once you start and the more you think about it, the more will come to you naturally. Here is are a few examples!
